Affiliate Disclosure
Last updated: [DATE]
The short version
Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, we may earn a small commission — at no extra cost to you. It never changes what we write or which products we cover.
What an affiliate link is
An affiliate link is a tracked link to a merchant's website. If you click it and go on to buy something, the merchant pays us a small percentage of the sale. The price you pay is exactly the same as it would be otherwise.
Programmes we participate in
[LIST EVERY AFFILIATE PROGRAMME YOU JOIN HERE]
If you join the Amazon Associates Programme, Amazon requires specific wording. The current standard statement is: "As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases." [CONFIRM THE CURRENT REQUIRED WORDING IN YOUR ASSOCIATES OPERATING AGREEMENT AND ADD IT HERE AND IN THE FOOTER]
How we mark affiliate content
- Articles containing affiliate links carry a clear notice at the top of the page.
- Affiliate links are technically marked
rel="sponsored nofollow"and open in a new tab. - A standing disclosure appears in the footer of every page on the site.
How this affects what we publish
Commission does not decide our coverage. We write about product categories and the practical features worth considering, and we say plainly who a type of product does and doesn't suit. We do not claim to have personally tested products unless we say so explicitly, and we do not make health claims about any product.
Sponsored content
If a brand ever pays for placement or provides a product at no cost, that will be disclosed clearly and prominently in the article itself, not just here. [UPDATE THIS SECTION IF YOU ACCEPT SPONSORSHIPS]
Advertising
This site may display advertising served by third-party networks. Ads are labelled and are separate from editorial content. [NAME YOUR AD NETWORK WHEN YOU ADD ONE, OR REMOVE THIS SECTION]
Regulatory note
This disclosure is provided in the spirit of the US Federal Trade Commission's Endorsement Guides and equivalent rules elsewhere, which require clear and conspicuous disclosure of material connections. [HAVE YOUR FINAL WORDING REVIEWED FOR YOUR JURISDICTION]
